And so begins
the week full
of excitement
and non-stop
action...
All vehicles from
Port Jervis, NY
were soon to be
decorated to
support their local
racers.
On the day of July
17th, we arrived at
Derby Downs,
"Home of the All
American Soap Box
Derby."
Amanda received her
"V.I.P." ribbon and
name tag where she
was then escorted to
the stage set up
outside the Akron
Aeros' baseball
stadium.
Here, she signed
her name into the
"Big Book of
Champions."
She, then, got to
throw goodies
representing the Port
Jervis Soap Box
Derby to the
audience standing
before her.
Amanda's derby car
was stored among
many others where it
underwent many
adjustments before
race day.
Amanda and her
dad Henry
prepare to secure
the car's body.
Much teamwork
and patience were
needed to get the
job done.
