| F-105D-25-RE Thunderchief #62-4284 |
This ARII kit of the Thunderchief is no longer available. It's molded
as a later Thud with all the updates. It does have recessed panel lines
that are a bit heavy. Factory desktops don't have them and I didn't
want to go through the trouble of filling them. The kit comes only
with wing and centerline tanks. Markings are for a silver Thud of
the 36 TFW but they are useless. I made my own except for the Stars
& Bars and USAF on the wings. Drawn with Corel and printed with
an Alps. Finished with Plasti-kote 387 Aluminum and the base is a
copy of a factory unit finished with (buffing) Metalizer Dark Anodic
Gray.
My info shows 62-4284 as a "Triple Mig Killer" during the SEA
Conflict. On 10 March 67, Cpt. Max Brestel downed two Mig 17s
and 27 Oct. 67 Cpt. G.I. Basil downed a Mig 17. I do not know the
fate of 62-4284. She does not show on any info I have as being lost
SEA, scrapped or preserved. If anyone can shed some light on this,
I'd really appreciate it.
